She’s an event planner and community organizer who has the relationship-building skills to develop brand loyalty and goodwill for her clients.
Kasmer started her career in the newsroom cutting her communications teeth in radio and honing her skills in television. She took this behind-the-scenes knowledge to the public relations field securing positions at WMAQ-TV, Chicago’s NBC affiliate, the Village of Matteson, and La Rabida Children’s Hospital.
The Publicity Club of Chicago honored Kasmer in 2015 with the Golden Trumpet Award in Community Relations for her campaign Sickle Cell at La Rabida Reaches New Heights. Accolades aside, she continued to sharpen her communications skills by earning her master’s degree in media communications from Governors State University that same year.
A supporter of civil rights and social action, economic empowerment, education, politics, arts and culture, Kasmer decided to return to her first love of television and start her own web-series, Be Relevant where she will showcase some of the community’s hidden gems and heros. The mission of Be Relevant is to provide viewers with the opportunity of learning how successful entrepreneurs, community leaders, and artists began their journey and became relevant. And most importantly remain relevant!
